Our Story

A Family Kitchen on New Mathis Road

El Guero Loco started as a simple idea: make everything the way abuela did, from scratch, every morning, no shortcuts. Our tortillas are hand-pressed and cooked to order — guests often tell us they've "never had tortillas like the ones here," with a texture closer to a corn pancake than anything from a package, and a flavor good enough to eat all on their own.

We're a small, family-run spot just off the highway in Elmendorf, and we like it that way. Every plate is built with care: rice and beans simmered low and slow, enchiladas verdes with bright, tangy sauce, and tacos piled high on tortillas made minutes before they hit your plate. Regulars know us for huge portions at a fair price — one guest was amazed to get "a huge taco made with a fresh tortilla" for just a couple of dollars.

Whether you're a local stopping in before work or just passing through on I-37, we want you to leave full, happy, and already thinking about your next visit. Kids are always welcome — we've been known to surprise a few little ones with a free side dish, just because.
